Hey All! We had a great time down in Austin for SXSW and wanted to share a few things with everybody. We had the wonderful opportunity to play some fun showcases, hang with our friends and meet a whole bunch of new great musical people as well. Of course it all ended with an epic annual BBQ and Jam Session with all of our friends and family out in Austin. There is a huge thanks in order to our friends YoursTru.ly for making it down to Austin with our new Vinyl “Big K.R.I.T. X Grillade “The Wuz Here Sessions” OUT NOW, to Big K.R.I.T. and camp for the opportunity to rock some amazing shows, to Wallpaper for tearing down one of the best shows of SXSW, AB and The Sea for the jam sessions that ensued at the BBQ and most importantly Peterman Van Zandt for being the “mayor” of Austin as well as “the best host on the planet”!

Those of you who frequent my blog, http://marleneboyette.com are aware of my love for Grillade. Over this past year, I have become equally as fond of Big Krit. The above song is a beautiful creation from the two, that I feel we can all relate to. Preview their latest collaboration which will be featured on their upcoming collective EP.

Big K.R.I.T. wouldn’t be the man he is today without Grandma Linnie. The same woman he recalls cooking something good for his soul in “Neva Go Back” is responsible for one of K.R.I.T.’s critical characteristics: his gumption. It’s this strength, and respect for tradition that separates K.R.I.T. from his peers, and gives his songs that lasting luster.
This version of “Neva Go Back” belongs to K.R.I.T., Miss Linnie and the members of Grillade, who fill it to the brim with their own memories and melodies. Notice the weightless harmony in the hook. That marriage of instruments sounds like it should be celebrating its 20th anniversary, but in reality, KRIT and Grillade vocalist Ragen Fykes met for the first time that day at Different Fur. Proof that time isn’t the only force tying us together. In this case, its a shared passion, mutual admiration, and good old-fashioned gumption.
